Governors Grove
This grouping of townhomes called Governors Grove is in a fantastic Alexandria location close to Old Town, Del Ray and all of the area’s main attractions. These 157 upscale homes were built between 1999 and 2000 and feature brick-fronts and 2-car garages. Total square footage ranges from 2,636 to 3,422 in the Keats, Fenwicke, Austen, Cheswicke and Eliot models. Homes are situated along Governors Crest Court, Governors Pond Circle and Grovehurst Place. Community members have the exclusive use of tennis courts, tot-lots, walking paths and common areas. The pond and gazebo make a nice entrance to the subdivision. There is a very informative website maintained by the homeowners association; residents are able to view any community announcements or other items of interest. Common areas are well maintained and landscaped beautifully. Children attend Clermont Elementary, Twain Intermediate and Edison High Schools.
Living in Governors Grove
Governors Grove is well located near several Metro stations, with the Huntington, King Street and Van Dorn stations being the closest. The Alexandria stations are the closest for those looking to ride either the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) or Amtrak trains. Bus service is readily available throughout the area. Interstates 495, 395 and 95 as well as the Fairfax County Parkway make it very painless for residents who choose to drive. Several military establishments are easily reached from here, including Fort Belvoir, the U.S. Army Reserve Center, the Pentagon, Bolling Air Force Base and a U.S. Coast Guard station. Examples of other local employers are the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Hoffman Buildings, several government contractors and technology companies at the Metro Park complex and the INOVA Healthplex.
All of the unique shops and restaurants of Old Town Alexandria are just a few minutes drive away. Whole Foods Market, the Masonic Temple and several historical/cultural opportunities are available as well. The Hoffman Town Center offers a 22-screen AMC Movie Theater and many restaurants, including Ted’s Montana Grill, Galae Thai, Coldstone Creamery, San Antonio Grill and more. Cameron Run Regional Park provides recreational activities for all ages; there is a Great Waves Waterpark, batting cages, miniature golf course and picnic areas. Regional shopping and entertainment destinations consist of Pentagon/Crystal City, Tyson’s Corner and downtown D.C. Tyson’s Corner Center and Tyson’s Galleria consist of large department stores, specialty stores and upscale boutiques.
