Whisperwood

Whisperwood is a super subdivision of 120 single-family homes built in the mid 1990s off the Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield. Streets in this neighborhood include Cumbertree Court, Mountain Ash Drive, Peoria Court, Royal Azalea Court, Seabrook Lane and White Willow Court. These residences were constructed on .20 to .41 acre lots and feature interiors with total square footage between 2,823 and 5,064. Several floor plans are available and include the Garnett, Shaw, Monroe, Vaughan, Parsons, Edwin and Walton models. Students attend Orange Hunt Elementary, Irving Middle and West Springfield High Schools.

Living in Whisperwood

All schools are highly rated by GreatSchools.org and Orange Hunt is especially popular due to its German language immersion program. Several transportation options, including major commuter routes, Metro, carpooling, and VRE are convenient to Whisperwood. The Springfield Transportation Center is located just off the Parkway and provides access to Metro, VRE, Amtrak and Greyhound. Interstates 495/395/95, HOV lanes and Interstate 66 are all close by.

This community is ideally located near everything the Springfield area has to offer. Huntsman Square Shopping Center includes a variety of merchants such as Giant Food, Starbucks, Doodlehopper 4 Kids, Baskin Robbins and more. Many shopping areas can be found near the intersection of Old Keene Mill and Rolling Roads; favorites consist of Whole Foods Market, Austin Grill, Washington Sports Club, Einstein Bagels, 24-hour CVS with attached MinuteClinic, Embassy Car Wash and Victor’s Pizza. Burke Lake Park and the newly expanded South Run RECenter offer many opportunities to stay active. The 888-acre Burke Lake Park features a 218-acre lake with fishing and boating facilities, volleyball courts, open fields, regular and miniature golf courses, horseshoe pits, playgrounds and much more. Highlights of South Run include a 25 x 25 meter swimming pool, 24,000 square foot field house with synthetic turf, off-leash dog area, and new fitness center with individual screens and video simulators on many pieces of cardio equipment, new strength training equipment, spin bikes and a Pilates/yoga studio with Allegro Reformer equipment.
