Hawthorne is a fabulous community of 148 single family homes and townhomes in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria. Tucked away between the Island Creek and Landsdowne subdivisions, there isn’t much through traffic in this community. Several styles of detached homes are available, with total square footage running between 3,700 and 4,928. Townhouse square footage ranges between 1,920 and 3,290; they come with either a 1 or a 2 car garage. Many units back to trees. Constructed in 2003 and 2004, builders included NV and Centex Homes. Students attend the super-close by Island Creek Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools. Residents enjoy the use of a community playground and gazebo. Several walking trails and parks are within a short proximity.

This community is in a perfect location near transportation, shopping and major area employers. The Springfield Transportation Center is only a few minutes away and provides access to Metro’s blue line, VRE’s Fredericksburg line, Greyhound and local bus lines as well as plenty of available parking spaces. The Fairfax County Parkway and Interstates 495/395/95 are only a few traffic lights away for those that choose to drive. Within walking distance of much of the community, the Landsdowne Centre has an interesting mix of restaurants and service providers. They include Pho Bowl, Olympians Family Restaurant, CVS, a dance studio, a gas station and more. The Kingstowne Town Center is also very popular with residents-it features several restaurants (Macaroni Grill, Firehouse Subs, Panera Bread and Bonefish Grill among others), shops (World Market, Home Goods and more), 2 grocery stores, a gas station and a 16-screen movie theater. Nearby Franconia District Park and Rec Center has an indoor swimming pool, exercise facilities, dance studios and outdoor sports courts/fields.
