Teal Pumpkin

Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) is the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to the awareness and education of food allergies. Back in 2014 they launched the Teal Pumpkin Project, which helps to promote a safer and happier Halloween by providing non-food treats such as small toys for trick-or-treaters that are allergic to certain foods. It doesn’t take much, but it does makes a huge impact by including all trick-or-treaters.

It is very easy to take part in the Teal Pumpkin Project. All it takes is a teal pumpkin, or you could download and print a flyer here, and some non-food treats for the kids! There are a few important things to keep in mind. Non-edible treats like moldable clay or rubber toys could still harm children with certain allergies to wheat or latex.

You can click here to read through their FAQ’s and learn some more about the Teal Pumpkin Project.

Once you’ve got your teal pumpkin carved out and sitting by your front door, the next thing to do is spread the word. Help others plan their route by adding your home to the Teal Pumpkin Project Fever Map. Also, you can download this free flyer so you can help raise awareness in your neighborhood. Be sure to check out #tealpumpkincontest and @FoodAllergy on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter!

As always, if you have any real estate related questions, or if you’re ready to buy or sell your home, give us a call. We’re always happy to help!
