Springfield VA–Children’s Book Drive

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a children’s book drive through April 11th. They are collecting books for kids in grades K-6. There are several local drop points, including the Newington Forest Community Association, Deli Mall Café, Hard Times Café and the Inova Healthplex. The entire list is available here. Last year the Chamber collected 3,100 books, and is hoping to top 4,000 this year. This annual drive has helped many local children who otherwise might not have access to books.

According to their website, the mission of the chamber is “to bring local businesses together in the Greater Springfield, Virginia area to develop and promote balanced economic growth and business opportunities in harmony with the objectives of our community”. More information can be found here.
