First-time Buyer Tax Credit NOT Over for Military

As many of you know, the first-time homebuyer tax credit officially ended on April 30th. However, for military and certain other eligible groups it has been extended one more year. This is great news for our area surrounding Fort Belvoir and other local bases!

The main criteria for eligibility is that the member of the military (or other eligible group) must have served overseas for at least 90 days during the time between December 31, 2008 and May 1, 2010. This extension also applies to an eligible spouse though it is only required that one spouse served overseas during that time.

To learn more about this extension, or to see if you are eligible, visit the IRS First-time Homebuyer page. You can also call or email us anytime and one of our experienced agents can go through the criteria and process for you.
