Episode 6 | 3 lunch faves in Springfield, Virginia

Hungry? We’ve got three of our favorite lunch spots in Springfield, Virginia to share with you today!

Hi, I’m Tom Pietsch, with Tom & Cindy and Associates at Long & Foster. And this is Susan Hall, our Marketing Director. While we’re often getting work done while having a sandwich at our desks, when we do have time, we’ve got some long-time close-by favorites. What are your top lunch spots?

So our office is located here in Alexandria. This is Beulah, and this is the Franconia-Springfield Parkway. So we’re in Alexandria, but just literally, right over here is Springfield. So a lot of times we’re so busy we eat our lunch at our desks, but when we get out to lunch, are couple of places that we really enjoy in Springfield. Actually a lot of places, but we’re going to show you three of our favorites today. Let’s do it.

Day 1: Thai Café

Okay, so we are at the Springfield Town Center, and one of these businesses is the Thai Cafe. And I gotta tell you, it is a hidden gem. I have been coming here for a long time. So been coming for dinner and when I get a chance, it’s fantastic for lunch too. So that’s what we’re gonna do today, and come on inside.

We’re starting off with some Tom Yum Goong soup, which has shrimp in there. It’s gonna be tasty.

Next, we going to split a beef dish. It’s beef with mushrooms, green beans, bamboo, and a spicy brown sauce. It’s gonna be delicious, can’t wait to dig in. What do you think Susan?

“Oh, it’s fantastic. I love the mix of flavors and you got green beans, red peppers, mushrooms, and a nice spicy sauce to go with it.”

Meet Penny! Penny is the owner and head chef, and head everything at the Thai Cafe. And Penny how long have I been coming here?

“Tom you’ve been coming here since what? We opened September 1998. Three months after that you were here. And from that point on, he been getting only Drunken Noodles and Kapow. That’s his favorite.”

Day 2: Tippy’s Taco House

Tom “I like going old school sometimes. Tippy’s Tacos. I’ve been going to Tippy’s Tacos since literally I was in high school. Back in 1973. Tippy’s is awesome. They’ve got great food, prices are unbelievably low, people are always friendly, let’s go inside!”

Alright, so we’ve got our chips and guac, excellent. And then what we’re doing is we’re each having three hard shell tacos. Super good. Putting some fun hot sauce on it. And then we’ve got some Mexican rice to go with it. So can’t wait to dive in. It’s gonna be awesome. That is so tasty.

Day 3: Mike’s American Grill

Of course everybody knows Mike’s. We all go there for dinner or happy hour, but coming for lunch is also a great choice. Today we’re gonna show you why.

Mike’s is an awesome place to get lunch because it’s fast, everybody’s friendly, and they have great fresh food. First we have some awesome bread, which always includes the world-famous Ozzie rolls. We’re having lobster bisque today. We’re gonna split a lobster bisque and it’s looking tasty.

Great, so now we’ve got our salads. This one is the field greens salad. It looks amazing, can’t wait to jump right in.

[Tom] So how is it Susan?

“It’s fantastic. Love that we got blue cheese crumbles on top. Just adds a little something extra to it.”

[Tom] Awesome, and as people can see, my plate’s gone. Mike’s did it again.

So everybody, those were three great meals.
