What could be better than chili and cold beer in the winter time? How about a competitive chili cook-off at a cool, award winning microbrewery, all in support of a fantastic local charity?
Today we give you the scoop on a great local charity that is having a chili cook-off at the fun Fair Winds Brewing Company. If you’ve never heard of Simple Changes, check out our video and see the good work they do and how it enriches the lives and brings joy to people with disabilities.

Tom and Cindy recently caught up with long time client and friend Jay Aronowitz and Corliss Wallingford of Simple Changes.
According to Corliss: “Simple Changes is an equine assistant small non-profit in the local area here, we’re located on Mason Neck. We serve 50 to 60 clients and basically we help people with disabilities through using horses. Sometimes it’s riding, sometimes it’s helping take care of them.”
Here’s the story of how Jay got involved:
“I retired a few years ago and wanted to start to give back. I’ve always enjoyed working with animals and children, and when I came across Simple Changes, being an organization with horses that works with kids with disabilities, it was just a perfect match. And the first time I went out there I literally fell in love with the organization. I’ve been volunteering with them for about three years now. I go out just about every Saturday once a week for a couple hours, take care of the horses and also assist with the exercises and lessons with the children, it’s just a wonderful organization that really is very dependent upon the fundraising, which is what this chili cook-off is that’s coming up January 26th at the Fair Winds Brewery, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.”
