Episode 22 | Alexandria’s #1 music venue + RTs after!

This week we show you a world-class music venue in our own Alexandria Virginia. We also throw in our pick for the top place to eat either pre or post show. You can’t go wrong with this much loved neighborhood icon. Hope you get a chance to go to both soon! If there’s anything our team can do for you, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’d love to work with you.

Hi everyone, I’m Tom Pietsch, with Tom & Cindy and Associates at Long & Foster. And today, I’m in front of The Birchmere. Tonight, we’re gonna see Nils Lofgren, but The Birchmere is one of America’s greatest music halls. It’s been around forever, for 50 years. We’ve been coming to the old one, this one, it’s just a great venue to see music, and we can’t believe how many talented folks have passed through these doors.

So, tonight’s Nils Lofgren, Nils is a local guy, singer-songwriter, fabulous guitar player, I’ve seen Nils since the 70’s. One time, I was lucky enough to see him at 117 South Main Street in Blacksburg, and that was back in the day when he had a trampoline, and he was literally doing guitar solos while he was doing backflips on his trampoline. And then, there was a commotion in between songs, and sure enough Bruce Springsteen, who had played Burruss Auditorium that night, came in, sat directly behind us, and watched the rest of the show, and sure enough over time they combined forces and now, Nils is a member of Bruce’s E Street Band. Tonight, he’s with his own band, he’s got a new CD out. We can’t wait to see him.

After the show, we’re gonna head across the street to another legend: RT’s Restaurant. RT’s is one of our favorite go-to restaurants in Alexandria. They’ve been around for 30 years, and they were recently named one of the top 50 southern restaurants in the United States. They feature delicious Cajun and Creole dishes. We can’t wait to sample our favorites, and find some new ones. And if you’re around during happy hour, they have a daily happy hour from four to seven.

[Tom Voiceover] It was time for the show, and the house was packed. It was great to see Nils again, and everyone loved the talented, quality musicianship, hot guitar solos, and soaring vocals from both Nils, and Cindy Mizelle.

After the show, we had a wonderful meal at RT’s. Shout out to Kat behind the bar, who treated us like royalty. The wine, swordfish, and Shrimp Diane were amazing.

It was an awesome evening. Big thanks to The Birchmere, and RT’s.
