Episode 18 | Cinco spots for Cinco de Mayo

This week we bring you five super-fun places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. From Springfield, to Old Town, Del Ray and Washington, D.C. you can count on excellent food, friendly servers and creative design. We’ve tasted them all multiple times and look forward to returning!

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo? We’ve got five great places for you to get the party started. Hi everyone, Tom Pietsch with Tom and Cindy and Associates at Long and Foster. We’re gonna show you five places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. One in Springfield, one in Del Ray, one in Old Town and two in downtown DC.

We’re starting off here in Springfield at Chef Victor Albisu’s Taco Bamba. Sure there’s a couple of locations. We’ve been to the one in Vienna, there’s one in Falls Church, one in DC, but it’s always delicious. Come on inside. Taco Bamba is modern and industrial with both classic and super creative takes on tostadas, nachos, tacos and cocktails.

Urbano 116 in Old Town is Chef Alam Méndez’s blend of contemporary and traditional Mexican food. It features heirloom products direct from Oaxaca and the design is as cool as the crowd.

Hi everyone, Susan Hall here I am on Mt Vernon Avenue in Del Ray and right behind me is Taqueria Poblano. They are well known around here for their homemade salsas, and fresh, all natural margarita mix. Taqueria Poblano is a celebration of the southern California Mexican cuisine from Chef Glen Adams’s youth. Specials change daily and the place is crowded and friendly.

Oyamel. We love Chef Jose Andres and Oyamel is consistently great. It’s in Penn Quarter, it’s open late, and impossible to say which is better, the food and drinks, or the atmosphere.

Mi Vida is in the bustling Wharf District. Created by Mexico City native Chef Roberto Santibañez, it successfully combines traditional and modern tastes and a hugely creative space.

There you have it folks. Five fun places to enjoy Cinco de Mayo. If you’ve got places that you like, let us know about them.
