Our local area has a wide array of parks and nature centers that will excite and inspire outdoor enthusiasts. A few destinations include Lake Accotink that offers a wide range of outdoor activities, the Mason Neck wildlife refuge and even Cameron Run that includes pools and water slides. Fairfax County and the City of Alexandria provide many fantastic facilities for residents in our local area. These facilities vary in their individual offerings but some notable amenities include fitness centers, indoor/outdoor pools, sports courts, athletic fields and much more. Golf Courses

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned golfer, our local area has a number of golf courses to provide you with exactly what you’re looking for whether it’s a driving range, a 9-hole executive course or a full service country club. Explore the courses we’ve listed below to find the one that best fits your needs.


Greendale Golf Course (Alexandria)

This 148 acre, 18-hole regulation golf course in Alexandria off Telegraph Road includes a putting green and full-service clubhouse with food service, pro shop and club and cart rental. Private lessons are also available from the club pro.

Laurel Hill Golf Course (Lorton)

Ranked number 15 in Golfweek’s 2009 standings for 50 best municipal courses in the nation. Laurel Hill is an 18 hole course designed by Bill Love and built on the land that was the former site of the D.C. Department of Corrections facility.

Pinecrest Golf Course (Alexandria)

Located just inside the Beltway at the intersection of Braddock Road and Little River Turnpike, Pinecrest Golf Course is a par 35, 9-hole executive course. Narrow fairways, a rolling landscape and numerous water hazards make this a course suited for players of any skill level. Course amenities include a full service clubhouse, pro shop, snack bar, putting greens, 10 driving cages and an indoor practice area.

Springfield Golf and Country Club (Springfield)

The club’s 18-hole championship course sits atop 157 acres of rolling hills and wooded land in the heart of Fairfax County. As a family-oriented club, it offers a new 42,000 sq. ft. clubhouse (2001) with year-round tennis courts, a fitness center, a 25-meter swimming pool, a pro shop, a member’s grill, a formal dining room and a separate bar and lounge. Throughout the year, the club offers numerous social events, tournaments, activities and banquets to keep its members constantly coming back for more.

Pohick Bay Golf Course (Lorton)

Located on the Mason Neck Peninsula in Lorton, Pohick Bay has been dubbed as one of the most challenging courses in our area. Course amenities include a driving range, chipping and putting greens, a full service pro shop and a snack bar.

Belle Haven Country Club (Alexandria)

Founded in 1924, the Belle Haven has long been Alexandria’s premier golf and country club. The club blends old traditions and state-of-the-art facilities to create an unparalleled experience for its members. The 18 hole golf course, designed by respected architect Arthur Hills, surrounds the beautifully appointed clubhouse that boasts a fitness facility, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, various dining options and an outdoor pool.

Fort Belvoir Golf Club

The Fort Belvoir Golf Club actually offers two 18 hole golf courses to enjoy; Woodlawn and Gunston. There is also a spacious clubhouse that includes various dining options including a formal dining room, lounge and a snack bar. The club is also host to numerous events and tournaments throughout the year.
