Wickford

Wickford is collection of 125 single-family homes without a homeowners’ association in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria. A variety of styles and floor plans are available including Cape Cods, ramblers, colonials, split foyers and split levels. Models found here are the Essex, Briarwood, Norfolk, Ashley and Georgetown. These homes were constructed in the early 1970s on lots ranging from .19 to .38 acres. Most have one or two car garages. Streets consist of Baychester Court, Butterworth Court, Dunsmore Road, Foxboro Court and Wickford Drive. Students attend the nearby Hayfield Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools; both are located on Telegraph Road. Wickford Park is located near the back of the community and feeds into Huntley Meadows Park. The 1,425 acre Huntley Meadows features dense forests, wetlands and meadows; it is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and check out wildlife.

If golf is your pleasure, the nearby Greendale Golf Course should satisfy your needs. Franconia District Park and RECenter also provides a plethora of opportunities to help you stay in shape. There is an indoor 50-meter swimming pool, exercise room with weight and cardio machines, dance and spin studios, several sports courts, a gymnasium, numerous athletic fields and walking trails. Many registered and drop-in classes, such as kickboxing, Pilates, salsa aerobics, yoga and more are offered regularly.

Many Wickford residents will find it easy to depend on the Kingstowne Town Center for their daily needs. There are 2 grocery stores, a variety of service providers such as banks, dry cleaner and a gas station, Starbucks, a 16-screen Regal Cinema and many shops and restaurants. Dining choices include Macaroni Grill, Pasara, Panera Bread, Moby Dick House of Kabob, and Bonefish Grill. Nearby Old Town Alexandria offers a collection of award-winning restaurants, upscale shops, antique stores, art galleries and historic attractions.

Wickford is very convenient to many different transportation choices. Several Metro stations (blue and yellow line trains) are close, as are stations for the VRE, and Greyhound. There is a Fairfax Connector bus stop at the entrance to this community if you prefer that. Residents have easy access to all major commuter routes. The Fairfax County Parkway, Interstates 495/35/95, Route 1 and the GW Parkway are painlessly reached from here. There are many military bases in the area, with Fort Belvoir and the U.S. Coast Guard station on Telegraph Road being the closest to this community. Other popular bases include the Pentagon, Fort Myer, the Navy Yard plus Andrews and Bolling Air Force Bases. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Hoffman Buildings and all of the companies at the Metro Park complex off Beulah Street are nearby employment choices as well.
