Westhaven is a lovely townhome community located in the heart of Springfield. Some of the 192 units have garages and others have 2 assigned parking spaces. These 3-level brick-front homes were built in the early 90s and typically have 3 bedrooms. The homeowners association maintains an e-mail list to inform residents of any important information or to publicize community events, such as a community clean-up day or blocks party. Children attend Garfield Elementary, Key Middle and Lee High Schools. People living in this subdivision have access to a myriad of transportation, shopping and entertainment choices.

Nearby commuter routes include I-495/395/95 and the Fairfax County Parkway. The Springfield Transportation Center is only a few minutes away and features access to Metro Rail’s blue line trains, Greyhound buses, VRE’s Fredericksburg line, Amtrak trains, buses and plenty of parking. There are several Metro and Fairfax Connector bus routes to get you to your destination, including an express bus to the Pentagon. The TAGS Springfield Circulator shuttle service provides loops through the Springfield business district.
Lake Accotink Park is a popular local recreation destination. Its facilities/activities vary by the season, but they include a 55-acre lake, canoe and boat rentals, fishing, miniature golf course, carousel, picnic areas with grills and a snack bar. There are 2 Fairfax County Rec Centers (Audrey Moore and South Run) nearby that have indoor swimming pools, exercise facilities and sports fields. Springfield Plaza is a convenient shopping center with 45 stores anchored by Giant and Trader Joe’s; other merchants consist of Chipotle, Starbucks, CVS, Hallmark, Duron Paint and more. The soon to be re-vamped Springfield Mall will introduce new retailers, restaurants and movie theaters in a pedestrian friendly atmosphere; construction is set to begin in the spring. Plans for a hotel, office buildings and residential homes are in the works as well. Mike’s American restaurant is a great place for a night out.
