Lorton Station
Lorton Station is a marvelous planned community of 950 homes just 15 miles south of Washington, D.C. with every amenity and convenience you would want. There are two community pools with shower facilities, a graceful clubhouse that can be rented out by homeowners, numerous tot lots and sports courts, 2 shopping centers and a VRE station. Designed to look like a train station, the clubhouse is a great setting for parties, meetings or other special events. The north end of the community is surrounded by the 100-acre Joseph Plaskett Park, which has a wooded hiking/biking trail and a fair weather crossing through Pohick River. Both the Lorton Town Center and the Lorton Marketplace are located within the community and offer a great range of eclectic dining, retail spaces and convenient services.
Living in Lorton Station
The Lorton VRE station can be found right at the Town Center, making it within walking distance of most of the community. It offers service to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station and Washington D.C. with stops in Alexandria and Crystal City along the way. For those heading south, there are stations in Woodbridge, Quantico and Fredericksburg.
There is a nice mixture of single family homes, townhome and condos available in this community, with several styles and floor plans to choose from. These homes were constructed during the early to mid 2000s. Depending on your location within Lorton Station, children will either attend Lorton Station or Laurel Hill Elementary Schools. Students at Lorton Station will attend Hayfield Secondary School and students attending Laurel Hill will go to the South County Secondary School. There are a variety of recreational and cultural pursuits available in this area of Lorton. You might choose to hit a round of golf at the Laurel Hill Golf Club, check out Mason Neck or Pohick Bay Parks or grab a workout at Fairfax County’s South Run RECenter. The Lorton Workhouse Arts Center provides visual and performing arts studio and exhibition spaces and a wide range of classes available to the public.
