Landsdowne

Landsdowne is a terrific planned community in the perfectly located Kingstowne area of Alexandria. Comprised of 619 single family homes and townhouses, there is surely a floor plan here to suite every taste. Constructed between 1987 and 1989, builders included Pulte and Richmond American Homes. Classically styled, the detached homes typically have 3-5 bedrooms and either a 1 or a 2 car garage. There are 3 different styles and sizes of townhomes, ranging between 2 and 3 bedrooms. Some of the townhomes also have garages. All residents are welcome to enjoy use of the various amenities: 25 meter outdoor swimming pool with 5 lanes plus deep and shallow play areas, full wading pool, picnic area with grills, 2 regulation sized tennis courts, basketball courts, numerous tot-lots, a multi-use court and walking paths with bench seating.

Living in Landsdowne

The neighborhood is complemented by peaceful and mature landscaping throughout. Landsdowne is a very people and dog friendly community. The homeowner’s association maintains a wonderful website filled with lots of pertinent information; residents also have the chance to join an e-mail list or the community’s Facebook group. According to their website, there are a number of ways to get involved, whether it be serving on a committee or joining the new Restaurant/Dining Out club.

Both the Hilltop Village Center (headlined by Wegmans) and Landsdowne Centre are within walking distance of much of the community. Both have a variety or retailers. Landsdowne is located 3 miles south of Springfield Town Center and 5.5 miles south of the Beltway; it is very convenient to Fort Belvoir, Springfield, Old Town Alexandria, D.C., Tyson’s Corner, Arlington and National Airport. The Kingstowne Town Center is only a few minutes away and features 2 grocery stores, shops, restaurants and a 16-screen movie theater; Bonefish Grill, Panera Bread, Firehouse Subs and World Market are popular choices.

This area of Kingstowne offers easy access to Interstates 495, 395 and 95 as well as the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station (blue line trains). VRE, and Greyhound stations are close by too. Residents enjoy a painless commute to all regional employment centers. Local employment options include the Pentagon, offices at Metro Park and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Children attend Island Creek Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools.
