Fort Belvoir’s Telegraph Gate is just down the street, making this a very convenient location for anyone stationed there. There is also a Coast Guard station and a U.S. Army Reserve Center just a little bit further down Telegraph Road. Students in the community attend Island Creek Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools.
The Levelle W. Dupell Park is conveniently located just off Newington Road. It is perfect for a get-together and features a large covered picnic shelter, tennis courts, basketball courts, a tot lot and a baseball field. If you are looking for additional athletic pursuits, Franconia District Park and RECenter is sure to please. Old Town Alexandria, with its award winning restaurants, upscale shops, art galleries and green space along the Potomac River, is easy to get to from here, as is Reagan National Airport when you want to take your next trip.
