Franconia Commons is a lovely tree-lined community of 332 townhomes in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria. The neighborhood was spaciously planned with lots of common ground available for residents’ use. There are a multitude of amenities here that include adult and children’s outdoor swimming pools, playgrounds, tennis courts and even a baseball field! Built in the early 1970s, several styles of homes are available. They typically have either 2 or 3 levels and between 2 and 4 bedrooms. Owners enjoy the convenience of assigned parking spaces. The homeowner’s association maintains a website and e-mail list to inform residents on community activities such as pool parties, bake sales, BBQs or meetings. Located just south of the Beltway, Franconia Commons has easy access to Interstates 495, 395 and 95 and the Fairfax County Parkway. Whether you are looking to drive into the District or out to Dulles, you are well on your way. Fairfax Connector bus service is available throughout the community during the weekday rush hours. The Franconia-Springfield Transportation Center is situated just off Frontier Drive and allows riders to catch Metro’s blue line as well as Virginia Railway Express (VRE) trains. Fort Belvoir Military Base, the offices at Metro Park and the U.S Coast Guard station are all within a few minutes of Franconia Commons. Other local employment destinations such as the Pentagon, Bolling Air Force Base and the Hoffman buildings are also easily accessed from here.
Franconia Commons is located amidst many great local amenities. The INOVA Healthplex, featuring an emergency service department and other healthcare practitioners plus fire and police departments are within half a mile of the development. Many great shopping centers are close by as well. The Kingstowne Town Center offers a 16-screen movie theatre, grocery stores, shops and restaurants. Bonefish Grill, Firehouse Subs, Panera Bread, World Market and Home Goods are always popular. Nearby Old Town Alexandria, Del Ray and Shirlington contain great entertainment options too.
