Van Dorn Village
Van Dorn Village is a 295 unit townhome community located approximately 10 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. Situated off of South Van Dorn Street, it has a pivotal central location near all major thoroughfares and attractions of Alexandria. This neighborhood consists of well constructed 3-level townhomes with 2 or 3 bedrooms. They were built between 1986 and 1988. There are a few garage units on Crocus Court, but most units have assigned parking spaces. Total square footage ranges from 1,680 to 2,874. Community members enjoy the exclusive use of playgrounds and basketball courts, where new hoops were recently added. All of the streets here have flower names such as Gardenia, Buttercup, Morning Glory and Hydrangea.
Living in Van Dorn Village
Students attend Bush Hill Elementary, Twain Intermediate and Edison High Schools. This subdivision is situated just outside the Beltway and is located between the Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Metro stations, the latter which is only 1 mile away. Interstates 395/95 and the Fairfax County Parkway are convenient as well. Fairfax Connector and Metro bus service, VRE trains are great options.
Terrific recreation, shopping and entertainment choices are well-located near Van Dorn Village. Cameron Run Regional Park offers a Great Waves Waterpark, multiple batting cages, a miniature golf course and picnic areas. Lee District RECenter features an indoor Olympic sized swimming pool, exercise facilities, sports courts, athletic fields and dance/aerobics studios. Golf enthusiasts will want to check out Greendale Golf Course. Many parks and green spaces are located near this community. Another popular spot is the Kingstowne Town Center. It features a 16-screen movie theater, 2 grocery stores, and numerous shops and restaurants. Favorites include World Market, Home Goods, Panera Bread, Firehouse Subs, Bonefish Grill, Pasara and Uno’s Chicago Bar & Grill.
