Middleford

With an easy location just off the Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield, Middleford is sure to please. This community features 47 single-family homes and 99 townhomes, all constructed in the early 1990s. There are walking/jogging paths, tennis courts and playgrounds for all residents to enjoy. The single-family homes were built on .15 to .29 acre lots and feature square footage between 3,762 and 5,199. An assortment of floor plans can be found here, including the Ellsworth, Ascot, Barron and Dumont models. The townhomes come in 3 and 4 level floor plans, with the Radford, Coventry, Balmoral and Sutton models available. Square footage of these units ranges from 2,144 to 2,716. Children living in Middleford attend Orange Hunt Elementary, Irving Middle and West Springfield High Schools.

Living in Middleford

Orange Hunt has a popular German language immersion program. This community features quick access to HOV lanes and regular lanes of major interstates such as the Beltway, 95/395 and 66. The Franconia-Springfield Transportation Center is located about 10 minutes away and features Metro (blue line trains), VRE, Amtrak and Greyhound facilities. Local Fairfax Connector and Metro buses are available for travel around the region. The Gambrill Road Park & Ride lot is on the routes for both bus lines and provides service to the Metro; it also serves as a car-pool staging area for commuters.

The Huntsman Square Shopping Center is convenient to Middleford. It includes a Giant, Starbucks, Baskin Robbins, Subway and several other shops and restaurants. Other Springfield merchants include Best Buy, Ulta, Ace Fischers Hardware, Mike’s American Restaurant, Austin Grill and Whole Foods Market. The Kingstowne Town Center provides a great alternative for residents-there is a 16-screen Regal Cinema, 2 grocery stores, a dry cleaner and an assortment of shops, restaurants and service providers. Here is a sampling of available choices: Bonefish Grill, Firehouse Subs, Panera Bread, King Street Blues, Radio Shack, Famous Footwear and World Market. Fairfax County’s South Run RECenter provides an array of activities designed to help patrons stay active. Highlights include a 25 x 25 meter swimming pool, an expanded 2-story fitness center, Pilates/yoga, spin and dance studios, a 24,000 square foot field house with synthetic turf field and numerous athletic fields. Walking trails connect to the nearby Burke Lake Park.
