Jefferson Green

Jefferson Green is a collection of 195 townhouse style condos located inside the Beltway in the western end of Alexandria. This community was constructed between 1981 and 1984. The 1,296 square foot Lafayette model has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Another model, the Charleston, is bigger at 1,400 square feet, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Both styles have 2 levels of living space. There are 4 tree-lined streets in this subdivision: Declaration Square, First Statesman Lane and Independence Circle/Way. Community members enjoy the exclusive use of an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts. The community association maintains an informative website and the social committee plans various club meetings, yard sales, BBQs and more. Residents can also join a Yahoo! Group to keep track of neighborhood events. Children attend Fairfax County schools: Bren Mar Elementary, Poe Middle and Annandale High Schools.

Living in Jefferson Green

This neighborhood is an ideal location for commuters. It is about 1 mile to I-395 and the Van Dorn Metro Station (blue line trains). Bus service is also readily available in the area. It is possible to reach other parts of Alexandria, Arlington and downtown D.C. in just a matter of minutes. Those looking to ride the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) can hop on board at the Alexandria station. There is Amtrak train service there as well. Personnel at the Pentagon, Fort Belvoir and the Hoffman Buildings have an easy drive to their jobs from here. Other local employment options include the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Federal District Courthouse in Alexandria.

The unique mix of shops, restaurants and cultural/historical activities of Old Town Alexandria are very convenient, as are those of Del Ray and Pentagon City. The Hoffman Town Center is a great entertainment venue-it currently features a 22-screen AMC Theater and several restaurants such as Ted’s Montana Grill, Delia’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Starbucks and Galae Thai. Plans are underway for additional retailers, 2 full service hotels plus residential and office spaces. Recreation activities can be found at the nearby Bren Mar Park, Cameron Run Regional Park and the Sportrock Climbing Center. Cameron Run Regional Park includes a Great Waves Water Park, batting cages, picnic areas and a miniature golf course, while Sportrock features indoor rock climbing walls.
