About

Crandall Run

The wonderful Crandall Run community was developed by Brookfield Homes between 2003 and 2005. It is composed of 35 single-family homes on .83 to 1.12 acre lots along Adams Chase Circle, Osprey Ridge Lane and Swans Creek Way in Lorton. These stately homes have between 3,593 and 5,197 square feet of living space on the top 2 levels along with full basements. Models constructed include the Clairhaven, Adelaide, Belford, Altair, Meridia and Halley. Crandall Run is located across the street from the Laurel Hill Golf Club, which ranks number 12 on Golfweek’s roster of the top public access courses in Virginia. This 18-hole, par 71 course was designed by Bob Love who also designed Hunting Hawk in Glen Allen, VA and the Iron Forge course at Penn National.

Living in Crandall Run

A 30 station practice range and a 9,400 square foot clubhouse are also located on the property. There is an expanded pro shop, changing areas, meeting and dining rooms inside. Group lessons, including special ladies only clinics, are available from quality instructors. South Run RECenter, a Fairfax County facility, is the nearest recreational center to Crandall Run. A remodel has lead to many happy exercisers! The fitness center expanded to 2-levels and features a Pilates/yoga studio, spin bikes, entertainment system with individual screens or video simulators on many pieces of cardio equipment, Human Sport cable equipment for weight training, a sizeable stretching area and more. A broader range of classes is being offered because of the new space. Other highlights of South Run include a new field house with synthetic turf, 25 x 25 meter swimming pool, numerous athletic fields, sports courts and an off-leash dog area. Walking trails easily connect to Burke Lake Park and Lake Mercer. Burke Lake boasts a 218-acre lake suitable for fishing and boating, camping grounds, volleyball courts, regular and miniature golf courses, an amphitheater and much more.

Crandall Run is very convenient to several shopping areas and the Lorton VRE. The Shoppes of Lorton Valley has a wealth of merchants. A VRE stop is located at the Lorton Station Town Center. It provides access to DC’s Union Station, with stops in Springfield, Alexandria, Crystal City and L’Enfant Plaza along the way. Riders have the opportunity to switch over the MetroRail at many stations, the first being Franconia-Springfield. Lorton Marketplace is another close choice. Students attend William Halley Elementary and South County Secondary Schools. Interstate 95, the Fairfax County Parkway and Fort Belvoir are all convenient to this community.

The Lorton Workhouse Arts Center, a program of the Lorton Arts Foundation, is the crown jewel of this area. According to its website, it “provides essential visual and performing arts studios and exhibition space as well as engaging arts education programs for people of all ages and artistic abilities”. The Arts Center offers a variety of classes in fields such as ceramics, glass, drawing, martial arts, yoga and more. Several concert series, theater camps and art exhibits are held on the grounds. Future plans are in the works for a studio theater, a “Music Barn” amphitheater area and a 35,000 square foot performing arts center.
