Welcome to the Charleston Collection, a unique community of single-family homes built in the southern style of Charleston, South Carolina. Many homes feature multiple porches, decks and balconies; detached garages are common as well. Square footage ranges from 2,804 to 3,336 with three, four and five bedroom floor plans available. Most homes are either Alston or Rutledge models. These homes were constructed between 1989 and 1992. This community is popular because of its close proximity to everything. It is only 2 traffic lights away from the Springfield Interchange, the intersection of Interstates 495, 95 and 395. Travel through just a couple more lights and you are at the Fairfax County Parkway and the Metro (blue line trains). VRE, Amtrak, Greyhound and local bus service can be found by the Metro as well. No matter whether you are on your way to Tyson’s Corner, Washington D.C. or somewhere in between, you are well on your way from here. Shirlington, Pentagon City and Crystal City are all close by and feature an assortment of shops, restaurants and entertainment choices. All three schools—Forestdale Elementary, Key Middle and Lee High Schools are located within walking distance of this neighborhood.
Springfield Mall and the various shops along Frontier Drive are within walking distance of the Charleston Collection. Construction is set to commence to transform the mall into the redesigned Springfield Town Center; the goal is to make this a pedestrian friendly space where people can live, work and play. The existing mall will be remodeled and include new merchants, a state of the art movie theater and top notch restaurants, all surrounded by residential, hotel and office spaces. The Best Buy and Springfield Commons shopping centers house many retailers such as Staples, Home Depot, Pier 1 Imports, Ulta, Old Navy, Fitness Resource and Borders. If you would like to head into Kingstowne, which is just a few minutes away, the Kingstowne Town Center offers a mix of shops, restaurants and a 16-screen Regal Cinema. Dining choices include Chipotle, Firehouse Subs, Panera Bread, King Street Blues, Noodles & Company, Bonefish Grill and Pasara.
Nearby recreation includes golf courses and Lee District Park and RECenter. Greendale Golf Course and the Hilltop Golf Club are located on Telegraph Road and offer traditional golf courses. Top Golf features miniature golf and heated driving range bays for those who would like to hit golf balls. Numerous activity choices are available at Lee District. The 193-acre park features athletic fields, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball court, sports courts, walking trails and a carousel. Highlights of the RECenter include a 50 x 25 meter swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium with basketball courts and running track, fitness studio with cardio and strength training equipment, dance/aerobics studios and more.
