Lorton: New Youth Center at Workhouse!

December 1, 2011 marked the grand opening of the Youth Arts Center (Building W-3) at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. Previously an old prison dormitory, this space has been transformed into a 100-seat theatre and three classrooms. This area will feature programs tailored to kids of all ages and will include a variety of classes, workshops and summer camp sessions. Spot-LYTE Company, the Lorton Youth Theatre Ensemble, is the resident pre-professional theater groups at the Workhouse. This is a great opportunity for young actors to gain experience. They will perform family-friendly shows throughout the year. The Studio 3 Children’s Theatre is a brand new professional troupe that will perform 6-8 shows a year, with a run of about 6 weeks for each. Local schools and daycare centers will be take field trips to see plays during the week. Congratulations to the Workhouse for continuously providing arts opportunities in the area! We look forward to its continued success.
