Episode 10 | NYC – Peloton, a play and pasta

We document our travels to New York City for an in-studio ride at Peloton, an award-winning Broadway play and a visit to one of our favorite restaurants. Hope you enjoy and let us know your favorite places in the Big Apple!

We love going up to New York a couple of times a year. Living in DC, its so easy to catch the shuttle to La Guardia and head into the city. Of course, the train or bus are great options as well.

New York is so fun! Aside tons of sights to see, we love our Peloton and always try to catch a live ride in the studio. This time, Susan (#susan923 on the leaderboard) was meeting up with some friends for a ride with popular instructor Alex Toussaint. Riding in the studio is awesome…the energy is like nothing else and there is just something special about seeing the instructors in person that you see on your screen everyday!

Why Peloton? So in the fall of 2015, Tom had a fluke accident. He fell and busted my right kneecap..literally just broke it in half. So it was just a brutal two year rehab during which he saw and ad in Architectural Digest for Peloton. We really didn’t know anything about it, so we headed to Tyson’s Corner in February of 2016 to check it out. We ended up ordering the bike right then and there! Live classes and a whole on-demand library sealed the deal! And of course, Peloton now has a Tread and tons of digital content such as strength training, yoga and stretching. It can literally take the place of a gym or personal trainer!

Gotta see a show! Another reason we love New York is that we really enjoy going to the theater. This time we saw The Band’s Visit, which won the 2018 Tony Award for best musical. The musicianship was fantastic and the show was very creative. Other favorites that we’ve seen include Come From Away, The Lion King, Wicked and Spamalot.

Late night dining! New York is full of fabulous restaurants, and the best part for us is that many are open late! We are definitely late-night eaters, so after seeing a show, we like to head over to the West Village for a meal. One of our favorites is L’Artusi, an elegant spot for Italian. We like to eat at the bar, and don’t mind waiting for seats. The drinks, food and service are always spectacular.
