Alexandria VA Farmers’ Markets

Summer is a great time to visit the local farmers’ markets. Here are just some of the choices around Alexandria:

Old Town Farmers’ Market: Saturdays 5 AM to 10:30 AM, year round. Takes place at Market Square (301 King Street). Operating since 1753, this one is considered to be one of the nation’s longest running markets. Enjoy fresh produce, baked goods and crafts.

Del Ray Farmers’ Market: Saturdays 8 AM to 12 PM. Takes place at corner of East Oxford and Mount Vernon Avenue. Come on by for the fresh baked goods, seasonal fruits and vegetables plus cheeses, nuts, jams and jellies.

Four Mile Run Farmers’ and Artisans’ Markets: Sundays through October 31st–8 AM to 1 PM. Located at 4109 Mount Vernon Avenue. Newest market in the area meant to enhance community living in Arlandria. It is situated at entrance to park on the biking/walking trail. Diversity of foods and crafts from local farmers and artists.

Upper King Street Fresh Farmers’ Market: Wednesdays through October, 3 PM to 7 PM. Found at King Street Gardens Park, 1806 King Street. In its third year, this market features fresh produce, cheese, baked goods, meat, tea and even ice cream.

West End Farmers’ Market (Cameron Station): Sundays through November 21 9 AM to 1 PM at Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Brenman Park Drive. Come on by to sample the fresh squeezed orange juice, gourmet yogurt and cheese plus lots of locally grown produce.

Kingstowne Farmers’ Market: Fridays through October 28th, 4 PM to 7 PM–located at the Kingstowne Town Center near Sunoco and Giant. Enjoy a wide variety of products: kettle corn, fresh fruits and vegetables, pastries, salsa, honey, ice cream and cookies. Master gardener plant clinic on site for anyone who has plant questions. The peaches from Allenberg Orchard are to die for–so yummy!!
