The Coast Guard has multiple units in the Washington DC metro area.

Located off Telegraph Road in our area, the Alexandria base houses the Coast Guard’s Commmmand, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Technology (C4IT) Service Center, the Telecommunication and Information Systems Command (TISCOM), the Navigation Center (NAVCEN), and USCG Ceremonial Honor Guard.

The C4IT Service Center provides “one stop shopping” for all Coast Guard technology requirements including enterprise computers and applications, maritime and intelligence interoperability with other Department of Homeland Security agencies, the Department of Defense, and numerous State and Local agencies and Port Partners.

TISCOM supports telecommunications, electronics and information systems for the Coast Guard.  They develop voice and data communication systems and build digital communication networks to improve daily.

The Coast Guard Navigation Center provides cutting edge services for safe, secure, and efficient maritime transportation by delivering enhanced situational awareness through continuous monitoring and managing of vessel movement system, quality positioning, navigation and timing signals, accurate and timely maritime information services, and system requirements and performing operational oversight of premier navigation services.

The United States Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard performs in over 1100 ceremonies per year, representing the Coast Guard before world leaders and dignitaries, and laying to rest the remains of fallen shipmates. The Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard was established at the request of President John F. Kennedy in 1962 and moved to its present location in Alexandria in 1965.

A short commute away, Coast Guard Headquarters is located on Half Street in Southeast D.C. near the National's Stadium.  CG Headquarters is home to the Commandant’s office as well as two dozen headquarters directorates and units.   Located in the greater DC are are the Marine Safety Center (Washington, DC), the Natioal Pollution Funds Center (Arlington, VA), the Personnel Services Center (Arlington, VA), Air Station Washington, DC), the Coast Guard Hearing Office (Arlington, VA), the Intelligence Coordination Center (Washington, DC), the Coast Guard Investigative Service (Arlington, VA), and the Coast Guard Deployable Operations Group (Arlington, VA).

Many of our wonderful Northern Virginia communities have convenient commutes to either of these locations.  In fact, the variety can almost be overwhelming to Coast Guard members, couples or families who are used to smaller units where everyone lives within the same community.  As well as helping you sort through and find the right place to call home, our agents are happy to answer your questions about local recreation, shopping and other community amenities.
