About

Hayfield Farm

Hayfield Farm is a well-established community of 691 single family homes on tree-lined streets in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria. Wills & Van Metre Inc. began building in the mid-1960s, with the last homes completed in 1972. There are several styles and floor plans to choose from, including colonials, ramblers, split levels and split foyers. This community is located off of Telegraph Road between Fort Belvoir and the Coast Guard Station and is within walking distance to Hayfield Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools. Hayfield Center is across the street from this subdivision and features a variety of retailers. Hayfield Park is located in the midst of the community with a playground, benches and plenty of green space.

Living in Hayfield Farm

Community members are invited, but not required, to join the Hayfield Citizens Association for an annual fee of $20. The fees help cover the cost of producing the monthly newsletter, maintenance and landscaping of commons areas, an annual telephone directory, the Halloween Parade and Easter Egg Hunt. Only paid members receive a copy of the directory; residents can join at any time throughout the year. There are several ways to get involved in the community, whether it be joining the Gardening Club or serving on a committee. A community member maintains a website to better serve the people of Hayfield Farm. Community announcements, special events and other noteworthy items are displayed there.

The Hayfield Farm Swim Club is located at the end of Hayfield Road and boasts an outdoor swimming pool, clubhouse, picnic areas, playground and volleyball courts. This is a private, member’s only organization with 425 shares available. If you are purchasing a home in Hayfield Farm and the sellers own a share, you may be able to purchase it as well. The Swim Club also maintains a “wait to buy” list for those looking to purchase a share; some owners also choose to “lease” out their share for the summer.

This subdivision is ideally located near everything the area has to offer. All major roads, bus routes, Metro, and VRE are all within a few minutes drive. Franconia District Park and RECenter and Huntley Meadows Park offer leisure activities. Lee District RECenter consists of an indoor pool, exercise facilities, sports courts and dance/aerobics studios. The surrounding 193 acre park has several athletic fields, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, lighted tennis courts and walking trails. Whether you are looking to hike, observe wildlife or go birding, Huntley Meadow is the place for you.

The Kingstowne Town Center, with its shops, restaurants, grocery stores and 16-screen movie theater, is very popular with residents of Hayfield Farm. All of the unique shops, restaurants and historical attraction of Old Town Alexandria are close by, as is the artisan enclave of Del Ray. Local employment centers include the Hoffman Buildings, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and Metro Park, which features an INOVA Healthplex, Calibre, SAIC and many other companies. Military and civilian members based at the Pentagon, Fort Myer and Bolling Air Force will find an easy commute from this location.
