Daventry Park is a 50 unit townhome community situated right near the intersection of Rolling Road and the Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield. These brick-front homes were constructed between 1990 and 1994, with both garage and non-garage units available. Model names in this neighborhood include the Amherst, Quentin, Bingham, Ashdale and Buckingham. Total square footage runs between 2,424 and 2,944, providing for spacious, open floor plans. These homes generally have either 3 or 4 bedrooms. All residents can enjoy the use of a children’s playground; it includes climbing equipment, slides and more. Students attend Rolling Valley Elementary, Key Middle and Lee High Schools.

Two shopping centers are conveniently located at the intersection of Rolling and Old Keene Mill Roads. There is a Whole Foods, Giant, CVS with 24 hour Minute Clinic, Austin Grill, Washington Sports Club, Victor’s Pizza, Walgreen’s, Starbucks and more. Several banks and gas stations are in the area. The Kingstowne Town Center offers a 16-screen Regal Cinema, shops and several restaurants such as Bonefish Grill, Panera Bread, Macaroni Grill, Firehouse Subs and King Street Blues. Due to its location near a multitude of transportation options, Daventry Park is a popular subdivision with commuters. The Springfield Transportation is only about 10 minutes away; it provides access to Metro, VRE, Amtrak, Greyhound and plenty of parking. All of the area’s major arteries are close by, including the Beltway, Interstates 95/395, Route 29 and Interstate 66. Those interested in carpooling might want to check out the slug lines either at the entrance to the Daventry subdivision on Old Keene Mill Road or at the intersection of Sydenstricker and Hooes. The Daventry line only goes to the Pentagon in the mornings, but is also served by a few Washington DC lines in the afternoon. Riders at Sydenstricker can go to the Pentagon or Rosslyn in the morning, with the additional choices of L’Enfant Plaza and 14th & Constitution lines in the afternoon. Fort Belvoir, 2 Coast Guard stations, Bolling Air Force Base and Fort Myer are all conveniently located nearby.

Recreational and leisure choices abound in this section of Springfield. The 493-acre Accotink Park features a 55-acre lake, wetlands and streams. Activities change with the seasons, but include canoe, paddleboat and rowboat rentals, fishing, tour boat rides, miniature golf, antique carousel rides, hiking trails and more. South Run RECenter has been recently renovated to include an expanded fitness center with new weights, state of the art entertainment system with video simulators and individual screen on many cardio machines, Pilates studio with reformer equipment, spin bikes and a wide array of class offerings. Other elements include a 24,000 square foot field house with a new synthetic turf field, athletic fields, sports courts, playgrounds, off-leash dog area and walking trails that connect to Lake Mercer and Burke Lake Park.
