Landsdowne is a terrific planned community in the perfectly located Kingstowne area of Alexandria. Comprised of 619 single family homes and townhouses, there is surely a floor plan here to suite every taste. Constructed between 1987 and 1989, builders included Pulte and Richmond American Homes. Classically styled, the detached homes typically have 3-5 bedrooms and either a 1 or a 2 car garage. There are 3 different styles and sizes of townhomes, ranging between 2 and 3 bedrooms. The soon to be built Hilltop Village Center will be anchored by Wegmans grocery store and include other residential, office and recreational spaces. Landsdowne is located 3 miles south of Springfield Mall and 5.5 miles south of the Beltway; it is very convenient to Fort Belvoir, Springfield, Old Town Alexandria, D.C., Tyson's Corner, Arlington and Ronald Reagan National Airport. Springfield Mall be soon be revamped into the new Springfield Town Center. Designed to be pedestrian-friendly, there will be office, residential and hotel spaces in addition to the mall, which will have additional retailers, top-notch restaurants and a new state of the art cinema. The Kingstowne Town Center is only a few minutes away and features 2 grocery stores, shops, restaurants and a 16-screen movie theater; Bonefish Grill, Panera Bread, Firehouse Subs and World Market are popular choices.
This area of Kingstowne offers easy access to Interstates 495, 395 and 95 as well as the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station (blue line trains). VRE, Amtrak and Greyhound stations are close by too. Residents enjoy a painless commute to all regional employment centers. Local employment options include the Pentagon, offices at Metro Park and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Children attend Island Creek Elementary and Hayfield Secondary Schools.
